Rotonda Xanadu

Der Filmtitel ist eine Anspielung auf zwei berühmte ''Schlösser'': Palladios Villa Rotonda und das Schloss Xanadu in Orson Wells Citizen Caine sind beides klassische Beispiele architektonischer bzw. filmischer Konstruktion. Als Basis für ROTONDA - XANADU wurde die geheimnisvolle Eingangssequenz von Citizen Caine nachgebaut. Die Dekonstruktion dieser Sequenz setzt mit dem willkürlichen Austausch der ursprünglichen Filmbilder ein und wird mittels heftiger Eingriffe in die einzelnen Kader fortgeführt. Sodass die Struktur des Rätsels auf vielfältige Weise erleb- und interpretierbar wird.

The film's title hints at two famous castles: Palladio’s “Villa Rotonda” and the castle of Xanadu in Orson Well’s Citizen Caine, classical examples of architectural and cinematic construction, respectively. The basis of Rotonda –Xanadu is the reconstruction of Citizen Caine’s mysterious opening sequence. Its deconstruction starts with the random exchange of the original pictures and continues with the massive interventions into individual frames. In that way, the structure of the mystery can be experienced and interpreted in multiple ways.
