Die in Österreich geborene Künstlerin Susanne Jirkuff hat mit Feel It (2004) eine offenkundig politische Arbeit kreiert, die im selben Jahr abgeschlossen wurde in dem Bush die Wiederwahlen gegen Senator John Kerry gewann. Ein Jahr später ordnete Bush die Invasion des Iraks an. Bekannt für ihre Gemälde und Videos kreierte Jirkuff ein humorvolles, comic-artiges Portrait des 43. Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten, zu einer Zeit in der der wachsende Aufruhr im Irak die politische Instabilität des Landes anwachsen ließ. Im Oval Office des Weißen Hauses angesiedelt, bringt diese Arbeit G. W. Bush, C. Rice und C. Powell in einem animierten Rap-Video zusammen, untermalt von der Musik von Timbaland und Magoo. Mit Humor und Zynismus präsentiert Jirkuff die Persönlichkeiten der Bush Administration in der Form eines Musikvideos, das vielmehr eine Bekräftigung des politischen Potenzials der Rap-Industrie ist, als der Macht, die es auf den Status der Ikonen der Popkultur zurückführt oder erhöht.

The Austrian-born artist Susanne Jirkuff has created an overtly political work with Feel It (2004), completed in the same year Bush successfully won reelection against Senator John Kerry and a year after he ordered the invasion of Iraq. Known for her drawings and videos, Jirkuff has created a humorous, comics-like portrait of the forty-third president of the United States at a moment when a growing insurgency in Iraq began to deepen the country’s political instability. Set in the Oval Office at the White House, it brings together G. W. Bush, C. Rice, and C. Powell in an animated rap video set to the music of Timbaland and Magoo. With humor and cynicism, Jirkuff has presented the personages of the Bush administration in the form of a music video that is as much an affirmation of the political potency of the rap music industry as it is of the powers that it reduces or elevates to the status of pop culture icons.
