Zoomahinundher

Thomas Baumann und Martin Kaltner übersetzen für ihr Regionsportrait Zoomahinundher das bewährte Ordnungsprinzip der Vermessung in die Sprache des experimentellen Films. Die filmischen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten werden bewusst auf das Rückwärtszoom reduziert und zwei Grundregeln werden eingehalten: Jede Einstellung muss an die nächste in mindestens einem Punkt anschließen, und der ursprüngliche Ausgangspunkt muss wieder erreicht werden. So zoomen sich die Filmemacher zu Fuß von Anhaltspunkt zu Anhaltspunkt durch die Landschaft und die Dörfer des Festivalgebietes.

For their portrait of the region, entitled Zoomahinundher, Thomas Baumann and Martin Kaltner translate the well-proven ordering principle of surveying into the language of experimantal film. The possibilities of cinematic expression are deliberately reduced to retro-zoom and two basic rules observed: every frame has to connect to the next one in at least one way and the original starting point has to be returned too. Thus the film-makers zoom from one point of reference to the next, walking through the countryside and the villages of the festival area.
