Heroes

Heroes features parallel, rhythmically inter-cut action-hero sequences from Conan to The Hulk. His [Draschan's] digitally reproduced film is both entertaining and critical. It has, however, left behind the realm of sentimentality and mourning that Tscherkassky builds for us. There is nothing missing, no loss in Heroes. Rather, Draschan makes us aware of movements, the basic movements that underlie all action on film. It is the moment when the gun gets pulled that constitutes the action, and our expectation for it.
