Travestis

At midnight in a square in Buenos Aires, six transvestites play on the slide, swings and teeter totter in a public playground, while the song Je t'aime by Sèrge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin is heard. In Travestis there is not a natural body, but rather one that must enter by way of culture in order to be transformed into a subject. The images of the video in the square constitute not only an aesthetic reference but they also impose a gesture of subjectivity through their capacity for retrospect. The circular movements of the camera coincide with the atemporal atmosphere created by the space, inhabited by each of these subjects, providing a glimpse into every one of their ages.
